Lake Powell

It's official. I am a blogger!!! The whole blog idea is a new one for me. I really want to do this because 1) I love to share pictures 2) I love using this as a journal for our family. Our first posting is going to be about our vacation to Lake Powell that we recently went on with the Hansen Gang which consisted of 23 people.

Allie had a blast on the trip despite her new feeding time of 4:30 am. Who knows why she chose to wake up at 4:30, but in order to keep her quite I would just breastfeed her and back to sleep she went. To say the least, I am excited this new eating time did not continue at home :) One thing Allie loved on the trip was the kiddie pool. We brought her kiddie pool from home and set it up on the deck for Allie and Cameron; which they both enjoyed! Allie also loved spending time with all the cousins and her many boat rides on Grandpa Von's boat.

Kim enjoyed the later part of the trip due to having the flu in the beginning. Anywhere but a boat with 23 people would be a great place to be sick! I got lucky it was only the 24 hour bug.

The vacation was such a blast!!! There were so many amazing canyons to see down in "red rock land." We traveled by house boat to a secluded cove that we called home for the week.

As you can see from our photos we went in a couple of little slot canyons. Down one slot canyon we found a giant sand box for the kids; as well as some climbing ropes up waterfalls for the dads. We also went on a couple of different hikes. We went on a quick 1 mile hike to Rainbow Bridge on a very hot afternoon. We also hiked Hole in the Rock. This was a place where Mormon Pioneers traversed 3/4 mile down a steep narrow canyon. All 200 pioneers and cattle of this company survived. The pictures don't do justice but this is a very steep trail, almost all straight up. Thanks Grandpa Von and Grandma Julia for a very fun vacation!
