Well we are off and growing! We got things planted out in our Square Foot Garden a couple weeks ago. With the creativity and hard work of Blake and my brother-in-law, we have the green houses complete. We have some vents that open up on the sides for these hot days, and then they can be all enclosed for the cooler days and nights to keep things growing and protect from frost. We are excited to get a jump start on things this year. We'll see if we can enjoy our crop a little longer. It's just one big experiment so we'll cross our fingers it works.

It's hot and getting hotter!
We have been enjoying some spring weather these past few days. It is supposed to continue for the next few days hiking it's way into the 80 degree range. Allie has been staying cool with fudgsicles. Yummy! I haven't taken pictures in so long, I can't believe how old Allie looks in pictures and how long her hair is getting. I don't know why things look so different in pictures and why I don't realize these things right before my eyes.
I guess it's been so long since I have taken pictures that when I told Allie to smile, she did!

Easter has come and gone!
We had a great Easter weekend. We made it out to an Easter Egg Hunt with Allie's friends Owen and Macy. I think the economic recession had an impact on our egg hunt. There was a lot of eggs with a majority of them being filled with little toys. The only candy was the tootsie rolls they just threw all over the grass. Who needs a lot of candy anyways...just mom who was a little disappointed that there wasn't any chocolate.
Allie and Owen didn't need any pointers on what needed to be done
Allie wasn't to interested in the tootsie rolls laying all around...she just wanted eggs
I couldn't get these two to look up at me; they were to interested in there baskets
After the egg hunt we came back home to do our annual sugar cookie decorating and easter egg dying. Allie really got into things this year. She just loved helping me roll out the dough, cut out the cookies, frost the cookies, and of course eat the cookies. I don't think much dinner was had this night due to a belly full of cookies. We enjoyed dessert first.
In the midst of rolling out the cookie dough and cutting out our shapes. Allie became covered in flour (check out her face of flour)
We invited a few friends over for our cookie and egg party
Allie in her Easter dress. I was so excited that I found this dress...I traveled many miles to find this. Allie was excited that the bunny came and left her Hi-Ho-Cherio. She just loves this game right now.
I made my first carrot cake for our Easter Dinner dessert. It's our new tradition. It was so yummy and I learned that this cake is my husband and dad's favorite cake. Why have I never known this or made this before?

Happy St. Pattys Day
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Today we celebrated St. Patty's by eating green frosted sugar cookies at Owen's House. The kid's enjoyed sugar cookies and an afternoon of play while a few of us worked on Kelly's baby announcements...they are turning out to be so cute!
Allie said a funny sentance that I just had to write down. We were driving out to Kelly's and there was a long row of tall trees infront of someone's house. Allie started to giggle and said, "that was a big tree wall." I hadn't ever heard of a tree wall, but it really looked like a wall because there were so many trees so close together. I just started to laugh because I thought that was so funny....a tree wall. I guess you just had to be there. Thanks for making me laugh girl!

Painting and Pudding
After receiving some mail from GG today we decided it was due time to send her something back. My grandma is so wonderful! She is always sending the kids cards on every holiday, as well as just because. Today we received a card just to say hi. She is such an amazing woman I wish that we lived closer to spend more time with her.
I dug out some finger paints and Allie and I decided that we were going to paint a picture for GG. It was pretty fun...we ended up painting Allie's hands and doing a couple handprints. Allie also explained her picture to me after we were done. She has never described what she has drawn before, so it was fun to see what she thought up
Allie wanted to wash her hands after every time we painted her hands and then she was ready to do it again. My once not so picky little girl is started to hate being dirty. She wants a napkin at every meal now to keep her hands completly clean through the meal
In this picture there is a yellow "sun", a red "house", another yellow "sun", and a blue "car"
That night we enjoyed pudding parfaits. We should have tried pudding painting while we were at it. We'll have to save that for another day.
