4th of July

I love celebrating the 4th of July, dressing up in red, white and blue and enjoying my freedom in America.  We had a never ending day for the 4th and everyone was a trooper throughout the day.

We started out by waking up at the crack of dawn to attend our Stake Pancake feed that began at 8 am; that means we were leaving our house at 7:45.  Supposedly this is a huge, well attended event so we wanted to be a little bit early

Following breakfast we went downtown to enjoy the 4th of July parade; we ended up meeting some friends at the beginning of the parade which made it extra nice when the parade was over and we got to be the first ones gone

We had a few events lined up for the evening so we got busy during nap time and made festive strawberries and skewers

I dipped the strawberries in chocolate and then Allie would dip the strawberries in blue sprinkles

Some of our finished products

Following the strawberries, I put Blake and Allie to work on our next project.... watermelon sparklers

Blake cut out stars while Allie assembled the skewers

I think our team did a great job:)  We whipped out a couple plates of goodies to bring to Blake's dad's BBQ and then to our friends for the neighborhood fireworks show

The kids all enjoyoing pop-its.  I wish I could have gotten Sophie enjoying the pop-its; she caught on quickly and went through a few boxes herself

All the girls....these are pretty much all of them among dozens of boys in the neighborhood, getting ready for the show

Alice and Sophie parked it on my lap for the show.  Uncle Jeremy and Mindy arrived from Seattle and brought in some fantastic illegal fireworks that were quite the hit during the night

We saved the best for last....tired delirious kids waving sparklers at midnight.  At least we had no injuries during the festivities. Happy 4th!!!
