Dinner for a Dollar

We first started our trip out at Albertson's for Double Coupon Days.  At the store we were able to get Free Kraft Cheese and Free Kraft Caesar Salad Dressing

These two were great helpers, I just had to snag a picture

We got home and picked some lettuce from our garden.  I can't believe how crazy this thing is doing.  Last year we were just planting at this time.  I'm a believer in my garden covers.

So with free lettuce, cheese, and dressing we whipped together this delicious Chicken Caesar Salad and made some home made bread which we grilled for dinner.  I think the chicken was probably a total cost of $0.50.  All you do for this salad is soak cut up chunks of chicken in a bowl of Caesar Salad Dressing for at least 30 minutes, if not a couple hours, the longer the better.  You then thread the chicken on skewers on grill them up with some grilled bread.  Place the chicken on a bed of lettuce, top with some extra dressing and cheese and voila- a delicious cheap dinner.

Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day!!!  We hope that you all had a wonderful sunny day like we did.  Allie and I enjoyed a relaxing day around the house while dad was up at the cabin helping Papa on the yard work.  We got all of our stinky camping clothes washed up, made some cookies, jumped on the tramp with the sprinkler, and played babies.  Allie and I got a lot of fun play time together and I realized how much fun this girl is.  Some days I am so consumed up in "mom" things, that I hardly get in any good play.  We had a great day and we hope you did too!

Allie thought it was so much fun jumping on the tramp with the sprinkler underneath.  She told me she had to get warmed up on the pads in the sun.  I have fond memories of doing this as a kid as well and it was so much fun to reminisce

Enjoying a warm cookie out of the oven and warming up in the towel

We dressed up in our red, white, and blue in our honor of Memorial Day.  Allie told me while I was taking this picture, "these are my best animals mom," (meaning these are my favorite).   Lately, Allie is always saying "Best" replacing it for favorite; I love the things they come up with. Allie has also figured out to "smile" when prompted to say smile for a picture.  Way to go girl, this makes one happy mom and one cute girl!

Come See the Toilet!!!

As I was preparing dinner I received a request from Allie to come and look at the toilet.  She had just gone in to use the bathroom, so thoughts of an accident flooded my mind.  I walked in to find this....

I caught myself in a moment of wanting to get upset, but before that emotion took over I just burst out laughing (that rarely happens).   We called dad downstairs to enjoy our adorned "whipe" covered toilet.  Thanks for the good laugh Allie

Goof Ball

Allie has been a goof lately.  She was cracking me up the other day doing the most random things with dressing up and playing pretend

First, she took her taggie in the car and was throwing it at me while I was driving...which she thought was hilarious.  Then she kept repeating "Look mom," while I was driving.  I finally turned around at a red light and thought this was too cute to pass up a picture

Later on in the day Allie went a little crazy with her dress up.  She grabbed all her purses, a necklace, and the plunger (seen in between her hands).  I'm not sure what this was about, but it didn't last long once I discovered the plunger

Once that game ended, on came the apron and the 72 hour backpack.  Allie was pretending she was going to school.  I told her that she needed to learn her letters, colors, and shapes to go to school.  Allie keeps telling me that she knows all these things and is ready for school.  This girl would do anything to go to school.  We'll just keep pretending because Mommy isn't ready to send you yet

Twins!

Allie has been obsessed with a this new Dora movie that I got her.  It's called Dora the Big Sister.  I thought it would be useful to prep her since one day she'll fill the role of being a big sister (No, we're not pregnant).   In the movie Dora's mom ends up having twins, so Allie is always pretending that she has twin babies.  She also keeps quoting lines from the movie, "I'm gonna be a big sister."  The other day I heard her quote a line to one of her friends, "My mommy is having a baby."  Her friend who is 4 got very excited for us.  I've got some work to do so these rumors don't keep spreading from the mouths of these little ones.
