Pulse Triathalon

It was time again for the Splash, Pedal, and Dash.  Allie had competed in this triathlon last year and this year they added the real swim portion to the race coarse.  Here is what Allie had ahead of her for the night

Swim: 20 yards
Bike: .75 miles
Run: .33 miles

Allie hanging out by the appropriate age sign

Allie was "body marked" with her number 161

She even gets marked on the back of her legs; age and race number

Ready to begin the race; 1st stop was in the pool

Off she went, starting out strong; hoping those swimming lessons have paid off and she can make it across the pool and back

Appearing a little exhausted after the swim; hopefully enough energy to finish the next course.  I explained the race course to Allie before the race began.  As soon as she was out of the pool she ran off to put on tennis shoes to start the bike portion.  I was single parenting the event and Sophie and I (mind you 28 weeks pregnant) were sprinting our own race to keep up with Allie

HAVE FUN!!!  The start of the bike course

The younger kids bike around the speed way 3 times to complete their .75 miles

As soon as Allie parked her bike she took off in a mad sprint...I love how she didn't want to put any clothes over her swim suit and was racing in her suit

Allie did awesome!  She ran the entire stretch by herself and when I caught sight of her she was in a mad sprint to the finish

When Allie saw me towards the finish, she told me she had a bad side ache and I could tell she wanted to be done, but she didn't give up.  She made it to the end and immediately crashed on the ground to rest

Re-hydrating after the finish

It's always amazing how fast you bounce back and feel so good after a race.  This picture was taken less than 5 minutes after finishing and she appears a whole new kid.  Proudly displaying her medal, number, and popsicle.  Way to go Allie....you can do hard things!!!
